7 verse 7 Rules

  1. FIELD LENGTH:
    1. 50 total yards—40 yards with a 10 yard end zone.
  2. STARTING EACH GAME:
    1. The winner of the paper rock scissors battle will have the decision on who receives the ball first.
    2. Each game lasts 25 minutes, running time until the final minute. The final minute will be played with a stopping clock and high school rules (Clock stops on 1st down until set, clock stops on incomplete passes, clock stops on out of bounds, etc.)
  3. MOVING THE BALL:
    1. Offense always starts on 40 yard line after any change of Possession.
    2. Offense has 3 downs to gain a first down. First down markers will be at the +25 and +10 yard lines.
    3. Once inside the +10, the offense has 3 downs to score a TD.
    4. For the conversion after a touchdown, the offense can choose to go for 1 or 2 points. 1 point conversion is from the +5 yard line a 2 point conversion is from the +10 yard line. The offense may choose hash for ball placement.
    5. The offensive team may run the ball one time per possession. Runs that are allowed are: Dives, Draw, and Jet Sweep, Stretch, and Toss. There are NO HB passes, reverses, or laterals allowed!!
    6. Each team is allowed 1 blitz every game. If you blitz more than 1 time in a game it will result in a 10 yard penalty and a 1st down (QB still cant cross line of scrimmage).
  4. COACHING YOUR TEAM:
    1. There will be one offensive coach allowed on the field at any time.
    2. The coaches must be positioned behind the offensive huddle.
    3. Coaches are not allowed to challenge any official ruling.
    4. Remaining team coaches can work from the sideline.
    5. No defensive coaches allowed on the field.
  5. SPECIAL RULES:
    1. No blocking. You are permitted to shield a defender from tackling your teammate (a block is determined by any athlete using and/or extending his arms to impede a defender from making a tackle).
    2. Blocking will result in the runner being down at the spot of the foul.
    3. Ball carrier is legally down when touched below the neck with one hand. A defender cannot leave his feet to make a tag. Runner will still be able to run if defender's feet are off the ground.
    4. Fumbles (including snap) are dead balls at the spot with the last team in control retaining possession at the spot.
    5. Each team will have 35 seconds to put the ball into play. Delay of game is loss of down.
    6. False Start is a loss of down.
    7. The offensive team is responsible for retrieving and returning the ball to the official. The clock does not stop and any delay by the offense in retrieving and returning the ball to the official with result in delay of game loss of down.
    8. Defensive pass interference will result in a10 yard penalty while defensive holding will result in 5 yard penalty and automatic 1st down.
    9. Offensive pass interference will result in a return to the previous spot plus a loss of down.
    10. QB is allowed 4 seconds to throw. Referees will stop play if time is surpassed.
    11. Offense is responsible for retrieving football after every play.
    12. Unnecessary Roughness Penalties are 10 yards and automatic 1st Downs.
  6. TIE BREAKER
    1. Any game that ends in a tie will go to a tie breaker. There will be a coin toss at the beginning of the tie breaker with the home team calling the toss. The winner will choose to be on offense or defense first.
    2. Each team will get a 3 down series from the 10 yard line.  Whichever team generates a greater number of points, is deemed the winner.
    3. After each team has 2 possessions, if the score remains tied, then each team has to go for 2 points after a score.
  7. POINT VALUES
    1. Offensive touchdown –6 points
    2. Extra point from +5 yard line=1point
    3. Extra point from the +10 yard line=2 points
    4. Interception =1 point
    5. Interception return for TD=3 points
      (total not 3 points + 1 for Int)
